KRR is Transcoding file that my Samsung TV plays well

    Hi Dennis,
Tried playing one of my 1080p mkv files on the Samsung TV and KRR transcodes the file when I know from past experience that the Samsung PS63C7000 plasma plays it brilliantly via usb HDD.

If I turn transcoding off for the device (Samsung TV) then all I get is a stationary thumbnail on the screen.
Does my device file need alteration? The device set in KRR is to Samsung TV C/D/E-Series.
Here's the file information from within Kooraroo.

    Hi,

It looks like the file should be passed through natively. Can you please double-click on it in KRR, then go to Transcoding tab and delete all entries there. After that try playing it again and see if KRR still tries to transcode it.

Would you be able to send me a download link to this file via PM or support, so that I could test it here?

Also, if you have Samsung's server, does it play using that?

Thanks Dennis, it worked. Strangely enough, I checked all the other files on that usb hdd and no others had Transcoding set to on.

Interesting why it was transcoded originally. Was your TV auto-detected or did you have to manually set the profile?

It was automatically detected. I was actually looking for C7000 device profile but C,D,E - Series is the closest to mine.

Interestingly, my parents have a 2010 (same year as mine) Samsung C550 plasma and it has failed to play some media that my C7000 plays easily.
So the 2010 "C" series don't seem to have the same media playback capabilities.

Yes, there are certain differences and I was meaning to create a new profile for those TVs. Perhaps I can do it with your help, if you don't mind and have some time? All I need is the "File Information" from KRR's GUI for the files that failed to play on your parents' TV (you can send it to support, if you prefer).

Yeah sure, I'll be seeing them this weekend but I'm not certain how many non-playing files I have left on my two usb hdds because I delete stuff all the time. There should be a couple there hopefully.

Great, thanks! Even if there's one file that you have, it's enough to make a discrete profile, but of course the more - the better.
